About | Summer Horns
Dave Koz & Friends Summer Horns is a dynamic touring ensemble led by Grammy-nominated saxophonist Dave Koz, renowned for his contributions to contemporary jazz. The project began in 2013 with the release of the album Summer Horns, which featured Koz alongside fellow saxophonists Gerald Albright, Mindi Abair, and Richard Elliot. The album, a tribute to the brass-heavy sounds of '70s funk and R&B, garnered critical acclaim and a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Instrumental Album.
Building on the success of the first album, the group released Summer Horns II From A to Z in 2018, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Current Contemporary Jazz Albums chart. This follow-up featured additional collaborations with artists like Rick Braun and Aubrey Logan, further expanding the project's reach and musical diversity.
In 2025, the ensemble continues to evolve with a fresh lineup that includes saxophonist Marcus Anderson, trumpeter Evan Taylor, trombonist Jeff Bradshaw, baritone saxophonist Leo P, and vocalist Marcel Anderson. This iteration of Summer Horns promises a vibrant mix of classic horn-driven hits and original compositions, maintaining the group's signature blend of jazz, funk, and soul.
Known for their high-energy performances and tight horn arrangements, Dave Koz & Friends: Summer Horns remains a celebrated act in the contemporary jazz scene, offering audiences an unforgettable musical experience.
